What’s the best way to ensure that your skin looks and feels healthy, vibrant and youthful? By doing a weekly deep-cleansing facial. And if you’re anything like most people, chances are, you’ve never even heard of a deep cleansing facial before. The truth is, your skin is so thick and tough that it really doesn’t need any help from you to look and feel healthy and beautiful. But here’s the thing: there are plenty of skincare treatments that claim to make your skin feel and look more beautiful—and it’s important to know what those products are actually doing. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of four core steps to make your skin look and feel amazing by performing a weekly deep-cleansing facial.
Know your skin type
You may think you’re just another Jane Doe. But it turns out, you are. Everyone’s face is unique, and every person has his or her own set of characteristics. So it’s important to know what type of skin you have. The easiest way to find out is to ask your skin care professional like Spas Fredericton. If you’re professional is on hand to advise you, it’s a good idea to have a look at the skin you have. Ask him or her what type of skin you have, and what kind of product would be best for you.
The Cleanse
This first step of your facial cleanse is where you are going to start removing all of your make-up from your face. Most people are surprised by how much debris they can find under their eyes and on their faces. If you have been using heavy make-up throughout the day, you will need to remove it before the mask can be applied. You want to get all of the excess product out of your pores and off of your face before you apply the mask. This step is critical! If you skip it, you may end up with a mask that will not stick and the bacteria from your face will not be killed.
The Exfoliate
The next step in the facial is exfoliation. This means gently sloughing off dead skin cells that are clogging pores and causing a dull complexion. This step should be done prior to any kind of chemical treatment to prevent clogging. You can use a scrub, a washcloth, or a loofah sponge.
When you’re exfoliating your skin, you want to make sure you’re using a product that will effectively remove dead cells from your face. The first step in determining whether a product works for you is figuring out what type of skin you have which we already discussed prior. For dry skin, products with alpha hydroxy acids or AHAs are a good choice. These ingredients have a mild exfoliating effect on the skin while also making it more hydrated and softer.
The Moisturize
Then apply a moisturizing mask over the whole face, leaving the neck and décolletage dry. The mask has to be thick enough so it will not wash off in the shower, but should not feel heavy or sticky. The mask is left on for about 20 minutes, and the skin is rinsed off thoroughly. Then apply a nourishing serum to your face, neck, and décolletage. It’s important to use a moisturizer that will not dry out the skin.
